11/20/2008, 00:19 |Today Google has launched Gmail Themes; this new feature allows users to customize the appearance of their Webmail application with a range of new looks. Google is all set to roll out this new feature over the next few days.
Gmail Themes is a departure for Google, as they have not been known for offering anything with color and style. Google are also adding smiley?s to their Gmail service, in the hope of adding a bit of fun to their service.
Google are going all out to offer users a new Gmail experience, and are even willing to get rid of their Gmail logo on some of the new skins. I wonder how many new skins there are to choose from, and if you can edit them in any way?

10/09/2008, 22:53 |There are many things to consider before you a purchase a cell phone. One major consideration for most consumers is the price of the cell phone.
Understandably, cell phones that have very few “bells and whistles” will cost much less than a mobile phone that also serves as an MP3 player, a video camera, a camera and has a full QWERTY keyboard, although sometimes you can pick these phones up for relatively cheap if the wireless carrier is offering incentives or rebates.
What’s not included in the price of most cell phones is the wireless service to make phone calls and send text messages. Wireless plans can vary from prepaid accounts which allow subscribers to pay as they go (or use minutes) to family calling plans that offer multiple handsets for family members with a calling plan that covers all the mobile phones in the family.
You can buy a cheap prepaid cell phone at most large retailers such as Wal-Mart, Target and even some smaller drug stores. Convenient and cheap, prepaids are a popular choice for those that aren’t “heavy users.”
My advice is, check cell phone prices before you buy. Since it’s a buyer’s market, chances are you can find a better price if you search vendors before buying.

Fight fans rejoice! THQ has named the UFC-based fighting game for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and mobile devices they've been developing. According to the press release, the game will be called UFC 2009 Undisputed. It will supposedly have "an authentic and comprehensive UFC atmosphere" as well as an "extensive roster of the best mixed martial arts fighters in the world." Sounds good? Hell yeah! If they can pull it off that is.
UFC 2009 Undisputed is slated to ship to retailers by spring 2009 so we should be hearing more details about this video game before then. Be sure to keep checking back here for more updates.

Shock-Your-Friend Gadgets
We all know how much some people like to borrow things, and sometimes we can't help but wonder if we can do something to correct them if they tend to borrow too often. A bunch of "Shock-Your-Friend" items from online retailer Deal Extreme may help, and it may hopefully prove to be effective. Basically, this Shock-Your-Friend gadgets look like innocent every day items, but don't be fooled: they're really not what they seem. Two of these items, the Chewing Gum and the MP3 player actually emits mild electric shock when handled.
The shocker chewing gum looks almost like a pack of Wrigley's Doublemint, but upon closer inspection the packaging actually reads as "Shock: Pull Here." Of course, the intended victim may just go ahead and attempt to get a piece of gum before they get a chance to read it, and they'll be treated to a dose of mild electrical shock instead of the expected chewy, minty treat.
Another clever Shock-Your-Friend Gadget is the MP3 Player, which looks like a nicely-made clone of the Apple iPod. As expected, this doesn't play music like how MP3 players are supposed to but emits a nice, solid shock.
They serve as good party gadgets, but since we're talking about zapping you should be careful not to use these on people with heart ailments, or people who use pacemakers.
Guitar Hero Air Guitar
Those who master any of the Guitar Hero games certainly look cool while they're doing their virtual riffs, but this contraption, the Guitar Hero Air Guitar by Jada Toys, will make you look even more cooler (or just make you look...odd). The package includes a guitar pick, a Guitar Hero belt buckle, and a wearable amplifier that allows you to unleash rockin' tunes anytime, anywhere.For instant jamming all you need to do is wear the belt buckle, and wave the Guitar Hero Air Guitar pick. The detector will sense a guitar chord being "played" and the wearable amplifier will instantly belt out tunes from Van Halen, Motorhead, Black Sabbath, and other bands.
What's good about this contraption is that the tempo of the tune being played depends on how fast or slow the air guitarist waves the pick.

ZUSE Toast Printer
Breakfast is oftentimes a bland affair with the usual glass of milk, bowl of cereal, and slices of toast. But not when you have the Inseq Design's ZUSE, a bread toaster that prints out 12 by 12 pixel designs on your daily breakfast toast, giving you your dose of happy every morning.
Each ZUSE toaster has a several images stored in its memory chip, and designs will be randomly toasted/printed on each slice of bread. It's a rather nice spin on the archaic dot matrix printers, and we're wondering why this idea was thought of only now.
It's not specified just how many pixelated images are stored in a ZUSE toaster, but we spy in one of the images that it can print a Space Invader on your bread. Yes, we're sold. Here's a video embed so you can see the ZUSE in action:
We're not sure whether the ZUSE toaster is already out in the market, or if/when it's going to be released if it isn't yet. We suggest keeping an eye out for it though, you don't always get to see household appliances that actually make day-to-day stuff a bit...happier.

Lanzamiento oficial 8220 y 9000 en Digitel
11/19/2008, 20:30 |¡Café mañanero! En horas de esta mañana como les contaba en cobertura en vivo, estuve en el lanzamiento de Digitel donde anunción un par de modelos que se suman a su cartera. Se trata del primer flip phone de Blackberry el modelo Perla 8220 con Wifi y el Bold modelo 9000.
Allí estuvo presente Gonzalo Fernandez quien viene trabajando en Digitel desde hace poco tiempo e impulsará el uso de Datos en el operador 412 le compañaba de RIM Lidia Feraco - Gte. Mercadeo RIM Canada y todo el team Digitel que hizo y hace posible la fácil implementación.
Entre ellos Kelly Aular quien cumple importantes tareas en la plataforma Blackberry para Digitel.
La presentación hizo conocer cada uno de los detalles que hacen posible estos dos equipos en nuestras cotidianos dias. Al estilo de “Quien quiere ser millonario” Se hizo “Quien quiere ser Blackberry Billonario” en cortas presentaciones con 13 preguntas los medios asistentes pudieron responder en detalles cada una de las caracteristicas del bold o el pearl flip phone.

Many of you are always looking for historic pictures and could never really find them with ease, even within Google Image Search; well now you can with Google Life.

It's time for another batch of Blu-ray movies this week! This batch features your usual healthy mix of content - drama, music, comedy - but this week's theme seems to be action as they comprise the bulk of eleven releases.
Headlining this batch is none other than the Caped Crusader of Gotham himself in Batman The Movie: Special Edition. If you're thinking that this is Michael Keaton and Jack Nicholson as Batman and the Jiker respectively, you're mistaken. This one stars Adam West from way back in the heyday of the TV show. Watch old-school Batman battle fiends like the Penguin, The Riddler, and of course, The Joker.
More action follows with Leonardo DiCaprio as he assumes the role of Amsterdam, a 19th-century New Yorker whose father was slain by resident city bad-asses. What he uncovers later on is a bloody trail of gang-related violence that leads to the cause of his father's murder. If this flick leaves you craving for more psychological action, then Vantage Point is another one worth recommending. It tells the story behind the assassination attempt on the American president as captured in an amateur video, dissected to reveal a stunning truth.
On that note, you may also want to grab Point Break: Pure Adrenaline which takes you on an intense ride aboard the Southern California waves. Keanu Reeves stars as undercover agent Johnny Utah as he infiltrates a gang of surfers suspected to be behind a series of bank robberies. With skills on the board and cunning to stay low-profile, Utah must fulfill a mission that can potentially end up with hing sleeping with the fishes.
Okay, enough meanie-gritty stuff. Over to the lighter side of things, this week offers up a barrel of laughs with Get Smart's Bruce and Lloyd Out of Control while maintaining some action elements. Want more comedy hybrids? how about Meet the Browns: Special Edition or Sex and Death 101 ? They offer up a bittersweet blend of drama and comedy. Laughing and crying in one movie seems weird, but it can happen.
Or you can go for Drillbit Taylor: Extended Survival Edition if you just want the laugh minus the action and the drama. It explores the world of high school freshmen getting their feet wet on adolescence, running into mischief and lessons along the way.
If pure, unadulterated boo-hoos are your cup of tea, then you might want to consider getting Mad Men: Season One. In the cutthroat world of advertising in 1960's New York, is there a place for love, life, and friendship among highly-competitive ad professionals? You can find out by watching the maiden season of this TV series.
For those seeking some good music, we've got extremes waiting on the wings. For those who want their music loud and aggressive, Korn: Live at Montreux should be the bomb. If you're more of an easy listener, you can go for John Mayer: Where the Light Is and enjoy some light riffs.
Finally, we have the documentary Ganges which gives us an in-depth view of India's sacred river. More than the body of water, this video will show the subcontinent's rich culture and how it was built around this holy place.

G1 capable of multi-touch input? Looks like it.

Whenever the G1 vs iPhone debate gets underway, iPhone purists are quick to flag the G1’s lack of multi-touch input support. Turns out, it might just be able to handle it after all -on the hardware end, at least. Whilst tearing his G1’s workings apart line-by-line, a crafty coder going by RyeBrye came across an interesting artifact. It seems the driver for the Synaptics touchscreen has some code commented out; after recompiling the kernel with said code back in, he was able to track two finger presses at once.
So if the hardware supports it, why no multi-touch on the G1? Patents, presumably. While this in no way actually enables to you to do any kind of multi-touch funnin’ immediately (nothing made for the G1 is currently coded for use with multi-touch, afterall), it’s certainly a step in the right direction. Though we probably won’t see any official support for multi-touch on the G1 any time soon, someone with a bit of spare time to tinker will probably figure out a way to make use of it before too long.
